Training & Classes

SCAA does not currently have any training classes to recommend for either dogs or cats (we have been asked about both…).

We have heard of one kennel/training school that takes dogs away for a month to “train” them, but we consider this utterly ridiculous. How can a dog be trained well without the involvement of its owner?! To us, this is simply pandering to owners who do not want to take any responsibility for their animals.

If you know of any worthwhile training classes worth recommending, please let us know at. In the meantime, we recommend surfing the net, asking for information from people who have well trained animals and are realistic in their expectations here in Shanghai, speaking to your veterinarian and animal behaviorists and then doing the best you can yourselves. It is ironic that in the place where you need help in training a pet the most, there is very little help available!
