Benefits
Sponsoring SCAA offers many benefits to companies wanting to increase their exposure and image in Shanghai's expat community while contributing to a great cause. Amongst our members are movers and shakers of the expat community, influential business leaders, impassioned activists, and dedicated animal lovers- local and expatiate. We work closely with many other expat and local organizations as well. SCAA is a very active community with adoption days every 2 weeks, monthly meetings and many large events a year. Our website is updated almost every day with articles, news and new animals up for adoption. Scaashanghai.org gets a lot of traffic and has a very high search engine ranking. Our newsletters have a very large readership.

Key Principles
The structure of any sponsorship relationships will revolve around four key principles:
- Transparency- It is important that any sponsorship agreement with a company is not seen as an endorsement of their product or organization. This will be achieved by making the relationship transparent to the public and staff in both organizations
- Equal partnership- It is important for SCAA to form useful relationships with other organizations that are positive for its membership and target audience.
- Mutual benefit- In contrast to passive donations, SCAA is aware that both parties should gain from a sponsorship agreement.
- Independence- It is important that the independence of SCAA is not compromised by agreements with external parties. Potential corporate sponsorship will not be allowed to influence the goals, strategic direction or integrity of SCAA.

SCAA welcomes sponsorship from companies as long as the interests of the company are not opposed to the interests of SCAA.
The work and the image of the company must not harm or tarnish the reputation SCAA. We will refuse any advertisement that we believe is incompatible with our mission. Advertisers and sponsors must not make unsubstantiated claims or suggest that SCAA has endorsed a product. Guidelines for Sponsorship
- Use of SCAA ’s logo
The SCAA logo may only be used by the sponsor following express written permission accompanied by instructions for use of the logo.
- Use of the SCAA name
SCAA should be consulted whenever and wherever its name is used. Any copy that refers to the joint project or initiative should be approved by SCAA before it is used.
- Acknowledgements
The type of acknowledgement that the sponsor will receive will be discussed before the sponsorship agreement is finalized. This could take the form of wording such as ‘working with’, ‘in association with’, ‘supported by’, ‘sponsored by’ or ‘made possible by’ accompanied by the sponsors’ logo. All acknowledgements will also contain the following, “SCAA gratefully acknowledges the support of (corporation), but this does not in any way imply an endorsement of its product or services.”
- Written material
SCAA retains a veto over all materials produced in connection with a joint activity/initiative. Sponsors should be aware of SCAA’s house style, use of language and positive images.
- SCAA membership
Sponsors will never be allowed direct access to SCAA’s database. However, the sponsorship agreement may include an arrangement for SCAA to forward material, samples etc. on to relevant SCAA members.
- SCAA Events
Only SCAA may collect personal information at any SCAA events. Attendees of SCAA events must not be solicited to without prior consent from SCAA.
- Company contacts
SCAA is happy to work with the contacts of a company, such as PR agency etc. In the first instance a representative of the sponsor company should be present in meetings with this external contact.
- Press relations
Press releases are to be written in collaboration with SCAA. Sponsors may not issue press releases relating to the joint activity/initiative without prior agreement with SCAA.
- Other support
The sponsors’ support of SCAA is not exclusive; SCAA is free to seek support from other companies at any time. The sponsor should be aware that it is not receiving preferential treatment from SCAA.
- Editorial independence
Articles relating to the joint activity or initiative may be included in SCAA’s publications. SCAA retains editorial independence over its publications including it’s monthly newsletter.
- Advertising
SCAA and Scaashanghai.org maintains a distinct separation between advertising content and editorial content. All advertising content on Scaashanghai.org or in our newsletter, is clearly labeled as an advertisement. Sponsored areas of the site are labeled as such. Sometimes sponsors are identified next to sponsored events.
- Mutual termination of agreement
SCAA may withdraw from a sponsorship arrangement if the conditions of the agreement are not adhered to, as may the sponsor. SCAA must reserve the right to cancel its contract with the company concerned at any time and to do so at very short notice, should the company’s activities undermine the respect for or the name of SCAA.
